The powder coating process is one in which a pigmented resinous powder is applied to a substrate, fused by heat to form a continuous, pinhole-free film. Powder coating offers superior protection for metals, and protection equals durability. Powder coating also offers corrosion protection and durability greater than found in liquid based coatings. A wide range of colors and decorative finishes are available.

These bonded coatings have the ability to create frictional properties nearly equal to those provided by full oil lubrication. Solid lubricants have come a long way since graphite powder was first dusted onto a metal wear surface. Today these lubricants are compounded with resin binders, pigments, and other additives to form a variety of low friction coatings that can be bonded as thin films to wear surfaces.
